چکیده

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the oldest disease known to humanity and among deadliest epidemics in top 10 causes death worldwide. The incidence tuberculosis India has dramatically increased contributing it Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Various diagnostic methods are available for detection tubercular bacilli. Only full proof criteria diagnosis TB demonstrate bacilli from affected tissue. This study was planned extra pulmonary cases evaluate different staining demonstration mycobacterium on FNAC material. To efficacy Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) initial cytodiagnosis Tubercular Lymphadenitis 147 clinically suspected mainly lymphadenitis who attended cytology OPD were selected irrespective age sex. performed. Slides stained PAP, ZN concentration bleach. Material remained hub sent CBNAAT. PAP slides observed various morphological pattern. Six patterns observed. Positivity acid fast by staining, bleach method CBNAAT compared. Detection acid-fast CBNATT found more as compared Concentration method.

Utility of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology of Lymph nodes

Background: The incidence of lymphadenopathy appears to be increasing, especially among young adults all over the world. Their frequent involvement in regional and systemic diseases and their easy accessibility make the cytomorphological study of lymph nodes a permanent activity of pathologists. Inflammatory and immune reactions are the most frequent causes of lymph node enlargement and are sel...

Sensitivity and Specificity of Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification Method for Diagnosis of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis

Abstract Background and Objective: Culture, microscopic method is a gold standard method for identification of Lishmania parasite. The use of Molecular methods such as RT- PCR compared to microscopic methods has a higher sensitivity and specificity however, it is not widely used due to its expensive equipment and the time requested. The use of nucleic acid sequence based amplification (NASBA) ...

Modified Bleach Method – Improving Microscopic Detection of Acid Fast Bacilli in Fine Needle Aspiration Smears of Lymph Nodes

Background: Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) method proves to be a good modality of microscopic detection of Acid Fast Bacilli (AFB) in Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) smears of lymph nodes though has a low sensitivity. It has a potential to become an even more valuable tool if its sensitivity could be increased. Objective: To improve microscopic detection of AFB in FNA cytology of lymph nodes using modified bl...

Leader Fine needle aspiration of lymph nodes

Needle aspiration of lymph nodes was used at the beginning of the 20th century to identify parasites in sleeping sickness, secondary syphilis, filariasis, and bubonic plague. In 1921, Guthrie at the Johns Hopkins Hospital described systematic diagnosis of lymph node aspirates using air dried films and Romanowsky staining. This began the modern development of this technique and I intend to summa...
